Booster Clubs

In 1972, Chapters of the Brothers of the Brush and Sisters of the Swish were large groups of individuals who participated in the Dodge City Centennial. These Chapters wore period costumes/dresses throughout the celebration, going as far as sewing their own dresses. Men would be "jailed" if caught without facial hair unless they were an exempt member of the Smoothies club and then must be clean-shaven at all events.

In 2022, the 150th Committee has fashioned this historic bonding experience into a group participation event that we feel works for the current man/women/family. Brothers of the Brush are encouraged to grow a mustache, full beard, goatee, or sideburns to make them members in good standing. Men who unable to grow facial hair for any reason, such as work requirements, would be encouraged to join the Smoothies Club. Sisters of the Swish are encouraged to wear long skirts or dresses.

To join these booster clubs is a $5 membership fee, and individuals will receive a button designating them as a Dodge City 150th Anniversary Booster Club that must be worn when attending events through the year. Members may also expect to be called upon and asked to volunteer as support for events.
